Minecraft mod not working or crashing on launch? Fix the most common mod installation errors — wrong version, missing dependencies, Forge/Fabric conflicts — in minutes.
Short answer
How to read a Minecraft crash report
Copy the "Caused by" line and search it. Nine times out of ten the mod name in that line points directly at the broken mod, and you can disable just that one instead of reinstalling everything.
The five most common mod errors and their fixes
1. Wrong Minecraft version ("Incompatible mod set")
2. Missing dependency (Fabric API and others)
3. Mixing Forge and Fabric
4. Duplicate or conflicting mod
5. Out of memory
Server plugin errors
- Plugin disables on start: check the server console for the stack trace, usually a version mismatch with Paper/Spigot.
- Plugin loads but does nothing: confirm you restarted fully and entered any required license key in the config.
- Players cannot see the effect: client mods will not work as server plugins — verify you uploaded the right file type.
- Config errors: a single wrong indentation in a .yml file breaks the whole plugin. Validate your YAML.
