Type "minecraft mods for youtubers" into YouTube, sort by views, and you do not get a list. We checked on October 12, 2026: the first twelve results were MrBeast Gaming videos, from "World's Largest Explosion" at 288 million views on down. YouTube shows you what those mods produce and keeps quiet about what they are.
We have spent years making Minecraft videos with Invictor, a Spanish-language channel whose biggest videos pass 50 million views, and almost every one of those videos came out of a mod nobody else had. This guide answers from the inside: which types of mods the big channels use, with the numbers for each format, where they get them, and which one you need for the video you want to record.
01
What a YouTuber needs from a mod A mod for playing and a mod for recording have little in common. The first is judged by hours of fun. The second is judged by four things that happen before anyone presses play.
→ The title explains itself. "Minecraft, but blocks fall from the sky" is already the video. If you have to explain the mod in the intro, you lose people before the first minute. → It shows in the thumbnail. A giant heart, a million-dollar car, a towering character. Anything that does not fit in a single frame is twice as hard to sell. → It causes reactions. The best scene in almost all of our videos is the first time something happens that we did not expect. A mod you already know inside out will not give you that. → It escalates. A twelve-minute video needs the rule to get worse, the blocks to fall faster, or the final boss to be bigger than the first one. 02
The six types of mods big channels use We grouped what we see on the channels that get the most views with mods. The figures come from our own YouTube searches sorted by views: how many videos we found with that format and how many views they add up to. The "Minecraft, but" and Lucky Block numbers come from the research we did on October 3, 2026 for our guide to five viral video ideas; the rest are from October 12.
1. One-rule mods: the "Minecraft, but" This is the king of formats. You take normal Minecraft and change one rule: you cannot touch the color blue, you get stronger every second, breaking one block breaks the whole chunk. We found 490 videos with "Minecraft, but" or "Minecraft pero" in the title, and the 412 from English-language channels add up to 5.3 billion views. The top one is "Minecraft, But Everything is Random!" by MrBeast Gaming, at 163 million.
Spanish-speaking YouTube is worth watching here, because the format works just as well there and the rules are often fresher. "Paso Minecraft pero puedo picar chunks enteros" by Mikecrack has 72 million views, more than any English video with that rule. Invictor's video sharing one inventory and one health bar with a friend passes 55 million.

Mikecrack · Watch on YouTube ▶ 55M views Paso Minecraft pero compartimos el inventario y corazones
Invictor · Watch on YouTube Simple rules fit in a datapack and need neither Forge nor Fabric. Rules that change the player, like growing or becoming a giant, need a mod. Ujjwal has 48 million views with "Minecraft, but I can become giant" and Aphmau 29 million with "I'm TOO STRONG In Minecraft!". The "stronger every second" variant has very little competition: the most-viewed Minecraft video we found with that exact rule is by xNestorio, at 5 million, and the biggest Spanish one is Zoomy's, in Roblox, at 4.7 million.
Our mod for that rule is Minecraft, But Every Second I Get Stronger. We designed it with Invictor for a full video: you start as the weakest player, gain Strength by moving, fighting and training, and your own skin goes through eleven increasingly muscular transformations. There are ten training items and a Strength shop, and by the end you lift trees, structures, whole chunks and an End island. It runs on Forge 1.20.1 and the world comes ready.
Minecraft, But Every Second I Get Stronger, our Strength progression mod. If you would rather have a forbidden-thing rule, Can't Touch Green is a datapack for Java 1.17.1 where touching anything green kills you: 115 blocks, the green mobs and the green items unless you wear the gloves. Invictor recorded the blue version and it passes 32 million views.

2. Lucky Blocks Thirteen years after it came out, the Lucky Block is still the mod that produces the most videos. We found 317 Minecraft videos with Lucky Block in the title. The 217 from English-language channels add up to about 2 billion views, and the 90 in Spanish to 1.25 billion. Invictor's tallest Lucky Block tower has 51 million.
The base mod is public and has been on CurseForge for years. What makes the video is the add-ons: variants of the block with their own drops. Big channels do not record with the stock Lucky Block. They record with blocks commissioned or built for one specific idea: one dollar versus one million, noob versus pro, or a whole world made of Lucky Blocks like ElTrollino's, at 55 million views.

Six Lucky Blocks, the one-dollar ones, the one-million ones, a starter block and an infinite block for the finale, with 37 outcomes per side: shopping carts and the Junkmobile against Ferrari, McLaren, Lamborghini, Koenigsegg and Hennessey, plus tools, two driver suits and traps. No player limit, Forge 1.20.1, and an editable world so you can redo takes.

3. Custom hearts and broken items The third group is the mods that change what you have: hearts with powers, impossible items, level one million enchantments. The search "minecraft custom hearts mod" returns 241 videos with 1.8 billion views. Maizen leads with 83 million on a speedrunner vs hunter with custom hearts, Craftee has 55 and 44 million with two custom hearts videos, and Invictor's "Paso Minecraft pero hay corazones especiales" has 34.6 million.

Invictor · Watch on YouTube What sells is the progression. Every new heart is a new power and a new scene, so the video structures itself.
Verity Hearts takes that idea into an adventure with a story. Eight craftable hearts, each unlocking a power and a chapter, six characters, bosses and waves, a final Monster you can ride and an orbital strike to finish off the Ender Dragon. Quests come in English and Spanish, it runs on Forge 1.20.1 and every dependency ships in the package.

4. 100-player events 100-player videos are a different sport. We found 382 videos with 2.78 billion views. "1 vs 100 Player Manhunt!" by MrBeast Gaming has 165 million and "100 Players, But Lava Rises Every Minute!" 73 million.
None of those videos run on a mod downloaded from a website. They are plugins and mods built for the event, because with a hundred people inside anything not designed for that falls over, and because the format is the video: if everyone has the minigame, anyone can repeat the event.

MrBeast Gaming · Watch on YouTube Steal an Egg is our multiplayer mod for that kind of video. Seven rival bases, twelve themed zones and a guardian boss on every nest: you steal the egg, escape and cross your line before you get intercepted. Eggs hatch in your base, there are more than 100 animated 3D pets, treadmills to train speed, an economy and progression. It ships with the map, the resource pack and a HUD for recording, runs on Forge 1.20.1 and has labels in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Russian.

5. Mutant bosses and mobs The biggest numbers of all are here. The search "mutant zombies vs minecraft" returns 340 videos with 1.38 billion views, and the top three are MrBeast Gaming: 1,000 tanks vs a titan Enderman, 170 million; 1,000 zombies vs a mutant Enderman, 159 million; 10,000 zombies vs a mutant Wither, 135 million. Maizen has 96 million with ten safety hacks against zombies.
The mod brings two things: an enemy that does not exist in the game and a number that does not fit in the game. Both show up in the thumbnail.
The guardian bosses in Steal an Egg and the waves in Falling Blocks go in that direction. Falling Blocks is a level-based minigame mod: blocks fall from the sky, and every level brings rarer blocks, hostile mobs and structures. Invictor turned it into a series whose best episode passes 24 million views. It runs on Fabric 1.19.2 and 1.21.4.

6. Transformations and horror The last two groups are smaller and growing fast. Transformation mods add up to 514 videos and 1.27 billion views: Maizen cheating at hide and seek by shapeshifting, 47 million; TommyInnit with the Morph Mod, 38 million; Wisp transforming every minute, 31 million. Invictor turned into Siren Head has 60 million.
Horror follows the calendar. Verity, ThatMob's mod, adds up to 389 videos and 550 million views, 27 million for the movie alone, and Rubius has almost 8 million installing it in Spanish. We have a separate guide to the best Minecraft mods for horror videos for that part.

The production mods nobody sees Then there are the mods every channel uses and no title ever mentions. They are free, they live on Modrinth and CurseForge and millions of people download them. On Modrinth alone, as of October 12, 2026:
→ Sodium, 243 million downloads. Performance. → Iris, 189 million. Shaders. → Freecam, 22 million. A free camera for shots and thumbnails. → Replay Mod, 19 million, and Flashback, 12 million. They record the session so you can reshoot it from any angle. → Camera Utils, 6 million. Smooth camera moves. The "for YouTubers" packs on Modrinth are exactly that: cameras, performance and utilities. The most downloaded one, Youtubers Essentials, is under 2,000 downloads. They make the video look good and they do not give you the video. If you are short on FPS or on editing, we have guides on how to record Minecraft without lag and how to edit Minecraft videos for YouTube.
04
Where YouTubers get their mods There are three places, and the big channels use all three.
Public mods Modrinth and CurseForge. That is where the production mods and a lot of reaction videos come from: TommyInnit got 38 million views with a public transformation mod and Caylus 27.5 million wrecking Minecraft with Physics Mod, which has 24 million downloads. MrBeast Gaming installed over a thousand mods in a video with 33.5 million. The problem is the usual one: the next day anyone can make that video with the same mod.
Private mods and commissions What you do not see on Modrinth. The compass-tracking plugin from Dream's manhunts was never published; what you find on CurseForge and Modrinth are fan-made replicas, and they say so themselves. doctor4t told, in a video with 6.5 million views, how he built a $50,000 mod commissioned by MrBeast. And every Invictor video cited in this guide, from the falling blocks to the special hearts, was recorded with a mod we built for that video. Nobody had it before and nobody could copy it that week.
We have a guide on why private Minecraft mods get more views than public ones if you want the detail on CTR and retention.
Mods you make yourself If your rule is simple, a datapack solves it in an afternoon without programming. If the rule changes the player, adds items or needs a server with many players, it is a mod, and then you either learn Java or commission it. We have a guide on how to get a custom Minecraft mod for your channel, with what it costs and what to ask for.
05
How to choose the mod for the video you want to make 01 A one-off challenge video: one rule, as a datapack or a "Minecraft, but" mod. Cheap and fast. Can't Touch Green or a custom rule. 02 A series: a mod with progression, so every episode unlocks something. Every Second I Get Stronger, Verity Hearts or Steal an Egg with its 100 pets. 03 An event with friends or with 100 players: a multiplayer mod tested with people inside. Steal an Egg, Lucky Block Cars or Falling Blocks. 04 Shorts: something you understand in three seconds with the sound off. A transformation, a giant heart, a million-dollar car. ◈ Before you buy or commission anything, write the video title. If the title does not stand on its own, neither will the mod.
→ Minecraft, but: Minecraft, But Every Second I Get Stronger (Forge 1.20.1) and Can't Touch Green (datapack for 1.17.1). → Lucky Blocks: Lucky Block Cars: $1 vs $1,000,000 (Forge 1.20.1, multiplayer with no player limit). → Hearts and story adventure: Verity Hearts (Forge 1.20.1). → Multiplayer events: Steal an Egg (Forge 1.20.1) and Falling Blocks (Fabric 1.19.2 and 1.21.4). → Roleplay and chaos: Animals Disguise, Grow Up, Hacker Glasses, Mob Effects and Sonic. All of them come with a personal license per channel, download instantly, and were designed or used with Invictor. If your idea is not there, we build it to order.

[01] What mods do Minecraft YouTubers use? +
Two layers. To make it look good: Sodium, Iris, Replay Mod or Flashback and Freecam, all public and free. For the video itself: one-rule mods, Lucky Blocks with add-ons, custom hearts, event plugins, mutant bosses and transformations. On big channels those are almost always built for that video.
[02] Where do YouTubers get Minecraft mods? +
Production mods come from Modrinth and CurseForge. The mods that make the video are custom: built by their own team, commissioned from a developer, or bought as private mods like the ones in this store.
[03] What does a per-channel license mean? +
Each purchase is a personal license for one channel. You can record as many videos as you want with the mod on that channel. You cannot resell it or share the file.
[04] Which Minecraft version do I need? +
Most of our mods run on Java 1.20.1 with Forge. Can't Touch Green is a datapack for 1.17.1 and Falling Blocks runs on Fabric 1.19.2 and 1.21.4. Every product page says which, and the packages include the dependencies.
[05] Do they work on Minecraft Bedrock? +
No. They are Java Edition mods. Bedrock uses add-ons, which is a different technology, and we do not make those for now.
[06] Can I request a mod for my idea? +
Yes. Write to us from the contact page with the video title and what should happen on screen, and we will tell you the timeline and the price.
