Some days you open Minecraft ready to record and have no idea what to make. It still happens to us, and we have spent years making Minecraft videos with Invictor, a Spanish-language Minecraft channel whose biggest videos pass 50 million views, and running other YouTube channels on the side. Those years left us with a handful of Minecraft video ideas we know work. Here are five specific videos, each with the numbers behind it and the mod or datapack you need. For each one we also point out what Spanish-speaking YouTube does with the format that English channels have mostly left alone. We count down from five to our favorite.
01
5. Lucky Block cars: a $1 car vs a $1,000,000 car It's a Minecraft Lucky Block challenge with cars and two tiers. The cheap blocks drop a $1 car, which is barely more than scrap on wheels, and the expensive ones drop the $1,000,000 car. One player only opens the $1 blocks, the other only opens the $1,000,000 blocks, and at the end they face off with whatever they got. You understand the video from the title, and that's the first thing we ask of any idea.
Lucky Blocks reached Minecraft in October 2013, when PlayerInDistress posted the mod on Minecraft Forum. Within about a month DanTDM and SSundee had covered it, and those two videos now add up to more than 13 million views.
Thirteen years later the format still pulls. Across our YouTube searches on October 3, 2026 we found 317 Minecraft videos with Lucky Block in the title. The 217 from English-language channels add up to about 2 billion views, and the top ten of those hold 489 million. Alan Becker's animation leads with 113 million, followed by FGTeeV with 62 million and Maizen's Lucky Block race with 60 million.
The other half of the idea comes from outside Minecraft. MrBeast has built a whole series on $1 vs $1,000,000, and his $1 vs $100,000,000 car video sits at 582 million views.
▶ 51M views Can you survive the tallest Lucky Block tower? (Spanish)
Invictor · Watch on YouTube The pieces already exist in Minecraft, one at a time. Craftee did $1 vs $1,000,000 Lucky Blocks, with 2.2 million views. PopularMMOs did a $1 car vs a $1,000,000 supercar as a crafting minigame, with 5.5 million. Caylus opened $1,000,000 supercar Lucky Blocks in GTA 5, with 5.6 million. We did not find a Minecraft video that puts all three together.
Here is what we would borrow from Spanish YouTube. The 90 Spanish-language Lucky Block videos in the same searches add up to 1.25 billion views, and many of the biggest ones use tiers: noob vs pro vs hacker vs god. Invictor's tallest Lucky Block tower video is built that way and has 51 million views. A $1 block against a $1,000,000 block is the same trick with a price tag on it.
You can build it because the Lucky Block mod for Minecraft supports add-ons. They are user-made additions that create variants of the block with their own drops, and you install them by copying a file into a folder.
◈ Don't show each side's best car early. Let the $1,000,000 player pull ahead bit by bit, and keep the Infinite block for the very end, because it gives you the last scene of the video.
Building this yourself takes more work than it looks. You have to code the add-on, add the cars, decide what each block drops and test until one match lasts about as long as a video.
Lucky Block Cars: $1 vs $1,000,000 has that part done. We designed it with Invictor for recording. It comes with six Lucky Blocks: the $1 ones, the $1,000,000 ones, a Start block and an Infinite block for the finale, with 37 different scenes on each side.
Lucky Block Cars: $1 vs $1,000,000, our Lucky Block cars mod. The cheap side drops a racing shopping cart, a pineapple car and the Chatarromóvil, our own junker. The expensive side drops Ferrari, McLaren, Lamborghini, Koenigsegg and Hennessey cars. You also get custom tools, two driver suits and hazards like a killer wheel and an angry mechanic. You can place the blocks anywhere without setting up a match, and the mod ships with an editable world for retakes. It runs on Forge 1.20.1, for two players or as many as you want.

4. Minecraft, but breaking a block breaks them all This is the classic "Minecraft, but" video. You take normal Minecraft and change one rule: break a block and they all break. Everything else stays the same, and the video is about how far you get. The same recipe works with other rules, like "Minecraft, but every chunk is a different block."
You rarely need a mod for this. Many of these rules fit in a Minecraft datapack, which Java Edition has supported out of the box since version 1.13, released in July 2018. It is a file you copy into the world's datapacks folder. You don't install Forge or Fabric, and it works the same in single player and on a server with friends.
The numbers for the format are huge. In our searches on October 3, 2026 we found 490 videos with "Minecraft, but" in the title. The 412 from English-language channels add up to 5.3 billion views, and the top ten hold 816 million. First place goes to "Minecraft, But Everything is Random!" by MrBeast Gaming, with 163 million.
The chunk version of the idea has been tested. Maizen's speedrunner vs hunter video where you can mine the entire chunk has 50 million views, and TapL's "Minecraft, But You Can Mine The Entire Chunk..." has 33 million. The random chunk variants are smaller so far. Wisp's "Minecraft, But Chunks Are Random..." has 3 million views, even though Google already autocompletes "minecraft but every chunk is a different block."

TapL · Watch on YouTube ▶ 163M views Minecraft, But Everything is Random!
MrBeast Gaming · Watch on YouTube ▶ 72M views I beat Minecraft, but I can mine entire chunks (Spanish)
Mikecrack · Watch on YouTube The biggest version we found is in Spanish. Mikecrack's "Paso Minecraft pero puedo picar chunks enteros", which means "I beat Minecraft, but I can mine entire chunks", has 72 million views. That is more than any English video on the same rule in our searches. Spanish channels run the format with a fixed goal, beating the game, and they number the videos: that one is part 4 of Mikecrack's "Minecraft pero" series. Invictor's run with a shared inventory and shared hearts has 55 million.
We think it works for the same reason as number 5. The title tells you the whole video, and people click to see what happens when the rule gets out of hand.
◈ Pick a rule you can explain in one sentence and that gets worse over time. Breaking a block and losing the whole chunk is funny for the first few minutes and a serious problem once you have to dig down for diamonds.
Another rule that works is banning a color. Invictor recorded it with blue: his video "I beat Minecraft, but I can't touch the color blue" (in Spanish) has 32 million views.
▶ 32M views I beat Minecraft, but I can't touch the color blue (Spanish)
Invictor · Watch on YouTube If you want that rule already built, we have Can't Touch Green, a datapack where you can't touch anything green. Touch a green block and you die. Get too close to a green mob and you die. Pick up a green item without protection and you die too. There are 115 green blocks on the list, so a normal world turns into a minefield.
Can't Touch Green, our don't-touch-green datapack. The only way out is the Green Gloves, crafted from six leather, which let you carry green items in your inventory. The rule is checked player by player, so it works the same for a solo recording or with friends. It is a datapack for Minecraft Java 1.17.1 with no Forge or Fabric, and it comes with its resource pack and a visual index of all 115 blocks.
And if the rule in your head is a different one, tell us through the contact page and we will build it to order.

3. Minecraft, but blocks fall from the sky, in hardcore In this one, beating the game is beside the point. You take a completely normal world, add one absurd challenge, switch to hardcore and turn it into a series. The example we know best is Invictor's series where blocks fall from the sky: you try to live your life and the sky tries to crush you.
The hook is what happens between close calls. The characters roleplay, argue and build their house while dodging death. Because it's hardcore, one mistake ends the run. Because it's a series, whoever watched episode 2 comes back for episode 3.
This is the clearest gap we found between the two communities. In our searches on October 3, 2026, 121 Minecraft videos had something falling from the sky. The 75 from English-language channels add up to 128 million views, led by Dream's raining lava video with 14 million, TommyInnit's TNT rain with 9 million and Slogo's endless falling blocks with 8 million. Nearly all of them are one-off videos. The only English series with episode numbers that we found was a small let's play with about 200,000 views or fewer per episode.
Invictor's channel alone has 11 videos in that list with 116 million views, close to the whole English total. His blocks falling video has 24 million, more than any English one we found, and he ran it as a numbered series with blocks falling in the Nether, animals falling from the sky and the episode where the blocks finally stop.

Slogo · Watch on YouTube ▶ 24M views Minecraft, but blocks are falling from the sky (Spanish)
Invictor · Watch on YouTube Hardcore brings its own audience. The 126 English-language videos with hardcore in the title in our searches add up to 2.1 billion views, led by MrBeast Gaming's 100 days video with 186 million. The normal world with one condition works in both languages. Kolanii's 100 days in an ocean only world has almost 20 million views and SB737's cave only world has 18 million, while Invictor's ocean only run has 61 million.
To try the idea for free there is Falling Falling, a map by MrBurdy with more than 174,000 downloads on CurseForge. Blocks fall and you survive, and that's about it, which is enough for a first video.
◈ Think in episodes from day one. End each video on something unfinished, like a half-built house or a teammate on half a heart, and the next one already has a hook.
The free map runs out of road once you want a series. Falling Blocks is our falling blocks mod for Minecraft, designed with Invictor. It works in levels: you start each one with a command, and from there blocks begin to drop into the play area.
Falling Blocks, our blocks falling from the sky mod. Things escalate as the levels go up. Rarer blocks fall, hostile mobs show up and whole structures come down, and a bar on screen tracks progress so viewers know how much is left. It runs on Fabric 1.19.2 and 1.21.4.

2. Steal an Egg in Minecraft Steal an Egg is the most viral game on Roblox right now. It launched on July 25, 2026, reached number one on the platform in under six weeks, and on September 19 RoVitals recorded 14.2 million concurrent players. It has 3.4 billion visits. In our searches, 78 English-language videos about the Roblox game already add up to 135 million views. We looked for Steal an Egg in Minecraft and found zero videos, in any language.
▶ 7M views Starting Over Using Only Robux in Steal an Egg (Roblox)
Foltyn · Watch on YouTube That gap is the idea. When a Roblox game blows up, millions of people search for videos about it, and almost every channel records them inside Roblox. Bring it to Minecraft and you get the trending topic with very little competition.
Spanish channels have been quicker at this. For Steal a Brainrot, the last Roblox game of this size, we found 32 Minecraft versions: 21 from Spanish-language channels and 7 from English-language ones. Invictor has a whole Steal a Brainrot series in Minecraft and a 100 days video set in Dead Rails.
The size of these games explains why it works. Steal a Brainrot came out in May 2025, and on October 11 of that year it hit 25.8 million concurrent players, which according to Wikipedia is the record for any video game. It has around 72.8 billion visits.
The view counts are lower than in the other entries, and there is a reason. These games are months old, while Lucky Blocks have had thirteen years to pile up views. The English-language Steal a Brainrot videos in Minecraft that we found all sit under 7 million. We put this at number 2 because of timing: whoever adapts the trending game first gets the searches while they last.

Invictor · Watch on YouTube ◈ Keep the one mechanic everyone recognizes, which in these games is stealing from other players and defending your base. Copying the whole game takes weeks, and by then the trend may be over.
Adapting a Roblox game to Minecraft is the most work on this list. You have to rebuild the bases, the stealing and the economy with Minecraft's tools, and if you take too long you show up when everyone has moved on to another game.
So we are building it. Steal an Egg for Minecraft is a mod with its own map: 12 zones, seven rival bases and more than 100 pets that hatch from the eggs. You steal an egg from a guarded nest, escape the guardian, carry it to your base and hatch it, and what you earn goes into upgrades so you can go after rarer eggs.
Steal an Egg for Minecraft, coming soon. It is multiplayer, so other players can intercept you on the way and take the egg. Progress is saved between sessions, which is what lets you turn it into a series. It is made for Forge 1.20.1 and it is not out yet: leave your email on its page and we will tell you the day it launches.

1. Minecraft, but I have custom hearts Number one goes to the format we have recorded the most, "Minecraft, but there are custom hearts." You replace the hearts in the health bar with custom ones, and each heart gives you a power or a new rule. The goal is still to beat Minecraft, but every heart you earn changes how you play.
We rank it first because you can repeat it without wearing it out. Change the theme of the hearts and you have a new video. Invictor has done special hearts, dragon hearts, video game hearts, Amazing Digital Circus hearts and Italian Brainrot hearts, and each theme became its own video.
English-speaking YouTube already knows this one. In our searches on October 3, 2026 we found 87 Minecraft videos about custom or themed hearts, with 866 million views in total. The 38 from English-language channels hold 529 million. Craftee leads the format in English with 10 videos and 229 million views, and the single most viewed is Maizen's "Custom Hearts Speedrunner VS Hunter" with 64 million.
On the Spanish side, 47 videos add up to 314 million views. Invictor's "Paso Minecraft pero hay corazones especiales", or "I beat Minecraft, but there are special hearts", has 34 million and its sequel has 22 million. The search suggestions show where demand is heading: YouTube autocompletes "minecraft but custom hearts" with Naruto, Sonic, MrBeast and Demon Slayer.

Invictor · Watch on YouTube It has one advantage over the other four ideas: the mechanic is on screen the whole time. The health bar never leaves, so any frame of the video explains what it is about, and the thumbnail almost makes itself.
◈ Order the hearts from weakest to strongest. If the first one is already the best, the rest of the video goes downhill. Save the best power for the last heart and use it on the Ender Dragon.
Verity Hearts is our custom hearts mod for Minecraft and the most complete one we have. We designed it with Invictor as a story adventure: there are eight hearts you craft, and each one changes the health bar, unlocks a power and opens the next challenge.
Verity Hearts during a story mission, with the eight-heart health bar. Along the way you rescue Lovity, survive bosses and waves, and end up riding the final monster to finish the Ender Dragon with an orbital strike. Missions come in English and Spanish, so the mod guides you while you record. It is for Forge 1.20.1 and one player.

Minecraft video ideas: frequently asked questions
[01] What are good Minecraft video ideas for YouTube in 2026? +
In our October 2026 searches, the formats with the most views were challenges with a rule you can read in the title. English-language "Minecraft, but" videos add up to 5.3 billion views, hardcore videos to 2.1 billion and Lucky Block videos to about 2 billion. The newest opening is adapting a viral Roblox game such as Steal an Egg.
[02] What are good Minecraft video ideas for beginners? +
Start with a "Minecraft, but" video with a single rule. It is the cheapest to set up because a datapack is often enough, and the title explains the video for you. If you record with friends, a Lucky Block race or a hardcore series with blocks falling from the sky gives you several episodes.
[03] Do you need a mod to make a "Minecraft, but" video? +
Not always. Many rules can be done with a datapack, which Minecraft Java has supported since version 1.13. You install it by copying a file into the world's datapacks folder, with no Forge or Fabric. More complex mechanics, such as custom hearts with powers, do need a mod.
[04] Is there a falling blocks mod for Minecraft? +
For free there is Falling Falling, a map by MrBurdy on CurseForge. Our version is Falling Blocks, a level-based mod for Fabric 1.19.2 and 1.21.4 where each level adds rarer blocks, hostile mobs and structures.
[05] Is there a custom hearts mod for Minecraft Java? +
Yes. Verity Hearts is our custom hearts mod for Forge 1.20.1. It has eight craftable hearts, each with its own power, and missions in English and Spanish. It is single player.
[06] Is there a Lucky Block cars mod for Minecraft 1.20.1? +
Yes. Lucky Block Cars: $1 vs $1,000,000 is our mod for Forge 1.20.1. It has $1 and $1,000,000 car Lucky Blocks with 37 scenes each, plus a Start block and an Infinite block for the finale. It works for two players or more.
[07] Is there a datapack for "Minecraft, but I can't touch a color"? +
Yes. Can't Touch Green is a datapack for Minecraft Java 1.17.1 where touching any green block, mob or item kills you, unless you hold the Green Gloves to carry items. It works with one player or several and needs no Forge or Fabric.
[08] Is there a Steal an Egg mod for Minecraft? +
We are finishing it. It will be a mod for Forge 1.20.1 with its own map, 12 zones, seven rival bases and more than 100 pets. You cannot buy it yet: on its page you can sign up to be told when it launches.
[09] Do these ideas work on Minecraft Bedrock? +
The ideas work on any edition, because the format is what makes the video. The mods and plugins in our shop are for Minecraft Java, so on Bedrock you would need to find an equivalent add-on.
